Day 9 - Already?

Well, the trip has been busier than I guess I anticipated... a good busy, though. I've seen lots of friends and family, and had great experiences everywhere. I'm in Montana, right now. I'm spending the weekend here, and will head down to Yellowstone on Monday.

I know I'm still in the grieving process, but I wonder if I've looped back into denial... I'm trying to get out of that, but not quite sure how to do that.

I'm staying in a beautiful little historic hotel in Lewistown, Montana. It's called the Calvert Hotel. It was built in 1909 as a boarding school for the school across the street.

But, to back up. It was great to see Annie.

She's engaged.

She met her fiance through these battles that she does. It's Renassainc-ey. This is me in her helmet, trying to look fierce. What do ya think?

I found this so fascinating in Iowa... lots and lots and lots of these.

Then, on to Minneapolis, where I spent Friday night with my childhood friend Lisa. We talked and talked and talked, and it was as if we had never NOT seen each other, although it had easily been 20 years. Lisa and I met in Kindergarten, and then our parents were best of friends at church.

Saturday was spent at a Soccer tournament for Lisa's youngest daughter, Taylor. She did GREAT, scoring two goals in the 2nd match, (her team won both matches that day).

She is a whiz at making balloon treats.

Then on to my other childhood friend, Beth's. She lived kitty corner across the street from me. Her twin brother, Bret, joined us for dinner.

It was so fun! Her children are precious, her husband is FULL of energy and GREAT conversation.

Then on to Brainerd. Beth and her boys joined me up there to walk the streets of the old neighborhood. More later.

Tomorrow's the Day

Well, I AM going on my road trip, and I plan on blogging from the road.

I am armed with several books on CD.

Another is Joel Rosenberg's book called "Epicenter."

And I have the New Testament on CD, and a couple of novels.

I have also just started reading "He Loves Me" by Wayne Jacobson. It's good.

And I'm also reading "The Prodigal God" by Timothy Keller. So enlightening. His premise is that BOTH sons are prodigals - one through rebellion and one through self-righteousness, and that NEITHER knows the Father - they just want things from Him. And all the Father wants is to KNOW them in love relationship.

I have mapquested my journey, and have GPS on my phone, so hopefully I will not get lost...

I am renting a car - I think the extra money it costs will be a good decision in the long run of putting 4,000 miles on my own car. The rental is smaller, and therefore will get better gas mileage. Plus, new tires, etc.

First stop - Kansas City and the International House of Prayer. After many years of hearing about it, I am going to check it out in person.

I'm taking my camera, so hopefully I will have photos to show you on the way.

July 1, 2010

Funny, four years ago today, I met him. Bit of a difficult day, today.

The music teacher position in Broken Arrow has been filled. Disappointing, but at least that's direction...

I leave for my road trip on Thursday, July 8, 2010.

Had a nice visit with my family.

Still working on wanting to really really let go.

Hoping that there's a lot less pain and sense of loss soon... tired of crying.

Wish it didn't matter to me whether he was thinking about me or not.
